Argos is now part of the Sainsburys group (2017), but our links will continue to take you to the Argos website. Some of the information below may now be slightly dated, but your excellent shopping experience at Argos remains alive and well. We hope you’ll still find our information useful.
Now long since de-merged from its previous parent company, GUS plc, Argos, part of the Home Retail Group (which also includes Homebase), now has over 600 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, as well as distribution centres, call centres and its head office in Milton Keynes, employing over 23,000 people in total. Founded in 1973 Argos is now the UK’s leading general merchandise retailer, with sales in the billions of pounds per year. Argos publishes two catalogues each year, the spring/summer edition in January and the autumn/winter catalogue in July. Argos customers are offered a multi-channel approach to shopping via stores, through the website and over the telephone. Through its award winning website, customers can browse and purchase goods from the catalogue or reserve items online for in-store pick up. Argos also offers a home delivery service through Argos Direct which will deliver any products from the catalogue throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Since it was first established, Argos has created a strong brand name, and is now the leading UK retailer for toys, small electrical appliances and housewares. Argos is also a leading player in several other markets, including DIY and gardening, consumer electronics and furniture. It also enjoys a significant market share in jewellery and sports equipment. Those familiar with Argos will most likely know of the "Argos Extra" range of products, which are generally only available for immediate pick-up from larger Argos stores; however, the entire range of Argos Extra products is also now available for purchase online too. If you want to buy an Argos Extra item from a regular Argos store, you can use the "Check and Reserve" feature to save you a journey. Check and Reserve is available online, over the phone or via text messaging. An estimated delivery lead time is shown next to each product on the Argos website. This is updated on a daily basis to reflect the latest stock levels. Once you’ve found what you were looking for on the Argos website, just add it to your virtual-trolley and go through the checkout process. All you need is a delivery address, a postcode, and your payment details ready, and then you’re all done! Unlike some catalogue companies, Argos does not currently offer a catalogue mailing service for its catalogue; however, the latest Argos catalogue can always be picked up for free from any of the Argos stores, large or small. Argos is operated by Home Retail Group. Select the following link to see other catalogues from Home Retail Group, or mail-order catalogue stores from other companies. You may find similar UK catalogues to Argos, or similar products, within the catalogue categories defined for Argos.
